Ink & Ember | Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough | Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
Ink & Ember is an independent bookshop and café — and yes, we really do mean both. Our new Peterborough shop at Queensgate is a place where you're as likely to be recommending a debut fantasy novel as you are pulling the perfect flat white. We're looking for full-time Barista-Booksellers who are genuinely brilliant at both, and who want to be part of building something from the ground up.
We operate with a small team, which means every person matters. You'll be hands-on, trusted, and very much part of the fabric of the shop.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and serving drinks and café menu items to a high standard
- Welcoming customers, hand-selling books, and making recommendations that actually land
- Keeping the shop floor and café area beautiful, stocked, and well-presented
- Processing sales, handling stock, and supporting the day-to-day running of the store
- Helping with events and displays as we grow the Peterborough community
What we're looking for
- Solid barista experience — you're confident on an espresso machine and you care about the quality of what you serve
- A real enthusiasm for books (doesn't have to be one genre — just genuine love of reading)
- A warm, personable manner with customers
- Reliability, flexibility, and a good eye for detail
- Availability across the week including weekends and the occasional late Thursday
Our opening hours
Monday – Wednesday & Friday – Saturday: 9:30am – 5:30pm Thursday: 9:30am – 8:00pm Sunday: 10:00am – 4:00pm
What we offer
- Starting wage of £12.70 per hour (National Living Wage), reviewed after probation
