WHAT THE LAND DEMANDS: A Night in the Forest

WHAT THE LAND DEMANDS: A Night in the Forest

The land keeps its own calendar, and every year it comes to collect.

Step into the trees with us after dark on the 26th August for the early release of FAWN by C.N. Vair, the dark folk horror that opens 3AM Books, Penguin Random House's first horror imprint.

We gather at golden hour at Molecey Mill, when the wood is still beautiful and still pretending to be kind. Then the light goes, and the old rules wake. You will follow the lanterns to the clearing. You will hear the story read aloud where the trees can listen. You will leave an offering at the water, because the land does not give without taking, and you will be given a cup to seal the bargain. The town always watches to see what a woman will do to keep what is hers. So will we.

Come and make your offering. Wear something the forest will remember you in. Strictly [16/18]+. The clearing holds only so many, and the rest are turned away at the treeline.

Further Information:

When: 26th August at 6:30pm

Agenda:

  • Arrive at 6:30pm where we'll all descend into the darkest part of the forest together
  • Receive your sacrificial cup offering (it's a drink - don't panic)
  • You will then make your forest offering to take home (a wax sealed bargain-card for example)
  • A reading of Fawn by candlelight in the clearing as full dark lands.
  • As the evening drawers to a close and the sacrifices have been made, collect your copy of Fawn with exclusive merch and hope that you can find your way out of the forest and home to safety

This event is best suited for people who are fully mobile, as we will be walking across rough terrain and sitting in the woods etc.
